Fort Lauderdale, FL - Florida International baseball star Garrett Wittels was reportedly charged in the rape of two girls in the Bahamas last week. According to the Sun-Sentinel, Wittels and four friends were arrested at the Atlantis Resort and Casino in Nassau on December 20 following the alleged incident. Wittels, who was released on bail, ended last season
with a 56-game hitting streak, two shy of the NCAA record set by Oklahoma State's Robin Ventura in 1987.

Wittels' father, Michael Wittels, told the paper his son "would be vindicated" when all the facts were revealed.
