Nevada casino owner Don Laughlin has purchased from the State of Arizona a 69-acre tract along the Colorado River in Bullhead City for $3.5 million.

The Mohave Daily News reports Laughlin was the sole bidder on the

state land auctioned Thursday in Kingman.

Bidding began at the appraised value of $15 million, but since no one else bid on the property, Laughlin snapped it up for the minimum price.

The original developer of the property had wanted to build 520 2 1/2-story townhouses.

Laughlin didn't rule out working with the developer in the future.
