SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) - Aretha Franklin would not specifically comment on her health, but told television host Wendy Williams she feels "superb" over a month after having surgery for an undisclosed ailment.

The Queen of Soul spoke to Williams by phone Wednesday, saying she was staying in a Detroit casino hotel for a change of scenery and "looking for a

faulous beach." She says she has two more weeks of down time as she continues her recovery.

Rumors circulated in early December after PopCrunch.com published an article citing a report by The National Enquirer that Franklin had incurable pancreatic cancer. FOX 2 could not confirm the type of cancer, but a member of the Franklin family told FOX 2 she may have bladder or pancreatic cancer.

With the exception of written statements and print interviews with Jet magazine , this was one of the first times the 68-year-old Franklin has been heard since the Dec. 2 surgery.
