DETROIT (WXYZ) - The Detroit City Council tackled three controversial issues today.

Today, Council members voted down the Mayor's request to convert the former MGM Casino into the police headquarters. The Mayor says the six council people who voted it down are now putting politics ahead of public safety.

Also, the Mayor is suing Council over changes both he and they want for the cable

commission, which broadcasts the council sessions.

Lastly, Council passed a resolution opposing any changes for control of the water department and that's despite the federal indictment of the former director, Victor Mercado. The Council says it will not let the suburbs take control of the system. Suburban leaders now hold three of the seven seats on the water board.
