A Lake Hallie man’s short time as a fugitive ended Monday with him hanging from a window, threatening to jump from  the ninth floor of a casino in Reno, Nev.

The Associated Press reported Randy Russell, 48, was persuaded by police officers not to jump from the window of his room at the Sands Regency Casino

Hotel.

Russell faces several charges in Chippewa County Circuit Court after police said he threatened to distribute nude photos of a former female acquaintance.

He is charged with third degree sexual assault, threats to injure or accuse of a crime, possession of an electric weapon, possession of marijuana second offense and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to Lake Hallie Police Chief Cal Smokowicz:

A 27-year-old woman told police on Jan. 13 that Russell was threatening to distribute nude photos of her that were taken about three years ago with her permission.

When she tried to recover some property, she was told she had to provide sexual intercourse or $5,000 to get the property and photos. Russell said he would email the photos to the woman’s co-workers and destroy the woman’s personal property he had.

The woman agreed to sexual contact to get her property, but after that, Russell demanded intercourse. She then went to police, which used a search warrant for the property on 132nd Street, near the intersection of 43rd Avenue.

Police seized a computer, nude and partial nude photos of the woman, five grams of marijuana, five smoking devices and a stun gun.
