ATLANTIC CITY - Another 110 Casino Control Commission employees received layoff notices as the agency shrinks and reinvents itself to accommodate recent state regulatory changes that transfer many of its duties to Division of Gaming Enforcement, CCC officials confirmed today.

The third round of layoff notifications leaves just three of 261 CCC workers

untouched, but DGE has said it intends to hire a few dozen displaced CCC employees to accommodate its increased role in gaming regulation.

That process has already started, according to CCC spokesman Daniel Heneghan. He declined to provide further details on which and how many workers are headed to DGE and how secure their new positions are.

Effective April 29, the most recent batch of pink slips were mailed out Friday and received Saturday or today by workers. Of those, 29 are supervisors; the rest; unclassified, Heneghan said this afternoon.

The 148 layoff notices issued previously take effect March 25.

The remaining employees are "top level" staff who continue to work with the board of commissioners on a new organizational structure, Heneghan said.
