Receipts at Hollywood Casino-Aurora dropped by about $8 million in 2011 compared to 2010, end-of-the-year records from the Illinois Gaming Board show.

The Gaming Board report shows Hollywood Casino finishing 2011 with gross receipts of $173.2 million on the year. In 2010, gross receipts at the Aurora casino were $181.2 million.

The drop in receipts translates to a drop in tax allocations to the state and the city of Aurora.

In 2011, the state received $47.89 million from the casino, and the city $10.15 million. The year before, the state’s share was $51 million, and Aurora received $10.5 million in Hollywood Casino taxes.

Elgin’s Grand Victoria Casino, the top earner among Illinois casinos, also saw a drop in receipts. The Grand Victoria took in $256.9 million in 2011, compared to $287.1 million in 2010.

The impact of the new Rivers Casino in Des Plaines was evident on all of the northern Illinois casinos.

In just under six months of business, the new casino generated about $177.5 million, giving it the third highest receipts among all casinos in the state, according to the Illinois Gaming Board.

Harrah’s Joliet held on to its spot as the second-biggest money maker in the state, generating $223 million. That, however, was down $23 million from a year ago.

Total casino revenues in the state were up by $103 million, at $1.48 billion for 2011, compared to 2010.

With the additional casino in play, the state received $17 million more in gaming taxes at $401 million.
