A 76 year-old woman is found shot to death at Majestic Star Casinos in Gary, Indiana on Friday.
Tribune reporter 11:27 a.m. CDT, March 29, 2013A 76-year-old woman was found shot to death early this morning in a parking garage at Majestic Star Casino in Gary, Ind., officials said.
Mary Austgen of the 9100 block of Maple Street in St. John, Ind., was pronounced dead at 4:10 a.m., according to a press release from the Lake County coroner's office.
Austgen was reported missing about 4:30 p.m. Thursday to the Griffith Police Department, said Gary Police Department spokeswoman Cpl. Gabrielle King.
Austgen was discovered shot in a car and police were alerted to the scene early this morning, King said. The car was parked in the 2D parking garage located at 1 Buffington Harbor Dr.
Austgen suffered a gunshot wound to the lower left torso and was pronounced dead on the scene, the release said.
The coroner has ruled her death a homicide.
The Gary Police Department was investigating.
