FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) --

Chukchansi Gold Resort and Casino laid off "non-essential" employees on Friday, Tribal Chairman Reggie Lewis and resort spokesman Roger Salazar have confirmed to Action News.

In a letter obtained by Action News, employees were informed that the resort was paying them through Thursday, Oct. 16.

The federal government ordered the shutdown of Chukchansi Gold Resort and Casino. Two tribal factions have been fighting over control of the casino.
