Maryland casino kicks out breastfeeding mother Breastfeeding Mama Talk via Facebook Alanna Panas said she was kicked out of the Casino at Ocean Downs for breastfeeding.

What a gamble.

A Maryland casino kicked out a woman for breastfeeding in the lobby, the mother said.

Alanna Panas said she fed her 7-week-old daughter, Lilly, after her own mom dropped the newborn off for lunch at the Casino at Ocean Downs Jan. 3.

Panas had hoped to feed the fussy infant in her car but could not get her keys in time, USA Today reported. Because it was raining, she was forced to soothe the crying baby in the empty lobby.

Casino security told her to leave because the baby was underage, she said.

“They told me that Lilly was a security threat,” she said. “But I didn’t have my baby on the casino floor. Lilly and I were in the corner of the lobby.”

Panas spread her story online, attracting support from other mothers who say they have been discriminated against for breastfeeding.

Maryland law allows women to breast-feed in public and private locations.

“Casino at Ocean Downs strives to make our guests’ experiences enjoyable, and if any member of our team acted in a manner that did not promote that experience, we apologize,” the casino wrote on Facebook.

Panas said the casino called her and gave a half-hearted apology.

“They just basically said it was Lilly and my fault,” she said. “My baby and I did nothing wrong. I just want a sincere apology for the way we were treated.”
