Ever since he retired from the NHL to take a job on the Arizona Coyotes’ broadcast team, Nick Boynton has relied on this mouth to make money. But on Wednesday, his mouth — and more accurately, his teeth — may have gotten him in trouble when reportedly bit a police officer during a casino scuffle in Buffalo, N.Y., the Buffalo News reports.

Boynton was in town to provide commentary for the Coyotes’ game against the Buffalo Sabres that is scheduled to take place Thursday night at the First Niagara Center. On Wednesday, however, he found himself at the Buffalo Creek Casino, where he became rowdy.

“He was abusive to the staff at the casino, and when officers tried to take him into custody, he bit one of them on the finger,” a police source told the Buffalo News.

Boynton, 36, was arrested and charged with assault, criminal mischief and harassment.

The team reacted quickly, placing Boynton “on a leave of absence” while the police continue their investigation, NBC Sports reports.

“We will continue to monitor the situation closely and until the continuing legal process is completed, we will have no further comment,” the team said in a statement.

Boynton joined the Coyotes broadcast team as a color commentator prior to the beginning of the season. Before that he spent 11 seasons on NHL ice playing for the Coyotes, Boston Bruins, Florida Panthers, Anaheim Ducks, Philadelphia Flyers and Chicago Blackhawks, whom he helped win the Stanley Cup with in 2010.
