Man robbed of casino winnings at gunpoint in South Philadelphia

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) --

Police say a robber stalked a man who won $12,000 at the SugarHouse Casino to his home in South Philadelphia.

The robber followed the man around 5:00 Saturday morning to the 2800 block of South Mildred Street.

According to police, when the man got out of his car, he was approached by the robber who was wearing a mask and carrying a gun.


The robber demanded the money the man had just won.

The man gave the robber his cash and iPhone and the suspect fled.

The victim called police and helped them track the bandit, by tracking the phone's location.

Police were led to the robber and the Nissan Murano he used as a getaway vehicle.

The suspect eventually bailed from the vehicle, dropping the cash, mask and gun in the process.

Officers chased the suspect and they were finally able to take him into custody inside the SugarHouse Casino in the Fishtown section.

There were no injuries reported.
