EVERETT — A man was shot in the parking lot of the Arterra Apartments on West Casino Road Tuesday afternoon and died later of his injuries, police said.

Witnesses told police that a male suspect had fled on foot, but K-9 units and helicopter search proved unsuccessful.

A suspect description initially put out by police officers was later withdrawn as being inaccurate. No new description was released.

The shooting victim, who was not identified, was transported to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett, where he died.

“It is unknown if the two men knew each other or what started the incident,” a police statement said.
