Trooper's leg broken while arresting man at Meadows Casino

State police say a trooper’s leg was broken early Sunday morning while attempting to arrest a man on the casino floor at The Meadows Racetrack and Casino in Washington County.

Police say Shawn C. Lamonde, 39, of McDonald was causing a disturbance on the casino floor. While officers were taking Mr. Lamonde into custody, they say he resisted. In the process, Trooper James Amitrone’s leg was broken.

Police are charging Mr. Lamonde with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, simple assault, resisting arrest and harassment.

Mr. Lamonde was taken to the Washington County booking center and is awaiting arraignment.
