The Greene Turtle Sports Bar & Grille is coming to Hollywood Casino Perryville in February.

Chelsea Wright, marketing supervisor for Hollywood Casino Perryville, announced the news late last week.

Here’s the rundown. Greene Turtle, a well-known Maryland-based restaurant chain, will take over the casino’s current restaurants, Celebrity Bar & Grill and Extras Cafe, within the next two months as soon as interior renovations can be completed.

Wright said Tuesday that interior renovations will begin Jan. 3 and are expected to be done by mid-February.

“The floor plan will be similar to the current one, but it will cosmetically look like the other Greene Turtle venues when it’s done,” she said.

The Hollywood Casino Perryville location will be Greene Turtle’s 45th restaurant, but its first as part of a casino.

“We’re delighted and honored to be partnering with Hollywood Casino to bring a new dining experience to Perryville,” said Bob Barry, president and CEO of The Greene Turtle.

The restaurant chain started in 1976 in Ocean City and has grown to 45 spots in the mid-Atlantic region. The Greene Turtle is known as a sports bar with casual atmosphere and a Maryland-influenced menu.

Wright said the casino and Greene Turtle will continue as partners on booking entertainment for the eatery, which includes live entertainment on Saturdays, trivia, karaoke and promotions for casino card holders.

“We’ve been searching for the right partner for our unique product to add to the current amenities,” said Matthew Heiskell, general manager at Hollywood Casino Perryville.

Food service will continue to be available to casino patrons at the Extras Cafe during construction inside of the main restaurant, Wright explained.

Hollywood Casino Perryville is located at exit 93 off Interstate 95 in Perryville.

John Heldmyer III, an inspector with Cecil County’s office of permits and inspections, was named Hero of the Week in mid-December by his boss, Director of Permits and Inspections Patrick J. Conway, and the Cecil County Council.

The honor was in recognition of Heldmyer’s action during a routine property inspection recently when a homeowner’s gas stove exploded. The property owners attribute Heldmyer’s quick response to saving their home.

“By the way,” Conway said, “They’ve switched to an electric stove.”

I just found out about an existing business that recently relocated from Nottingham, Pa., to Rising Sun.

Moto-Man Cycle & ATV needed more space for its growing business that started 15 years ago. Owners Mike and Jeanne Zadorzany moved the 3,000-square-foot shop into a newer and larger 5,000-square-foot space in the Creeger’s building at 98 Greenmont Road in Rising Sun during the first week of December.

The business sells parts, accessories and offers repair services for a variety of makes and models. Hours at the new location are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday and call 410-658-9896 for Sunday hours.
