Maryland Live! Casino Partially Evacuated for Police Chase

Some Maryland Live! Casino patrons evacuated after police chased a man into the Arundel Mills Mall parking garage and the casino, according to Anne Arundel County police.

Police said the incident began in Washington, after a man was shot in the 800 block of Division Avenue, Northeast, around 9:45 p.m. Friday. The gunman fled in a vehicle, leading D.C. police toward the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.

Anne Arundel County police said they were informed of the chase and arrested the driver after he entered the casino around 11 p.m. Police have not released the name of the man but said he was a D.C. resident.

The man was charged with drug offenses and is being held by Anne Arundel County police.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police Department confirmed there was a shooting on Division Avenue, but he said he could not confirm if the shooting and the chase were related to the same incident.

Police said they did not order an evacuation of the casino, but some customers left after seeing the police response and search. County police said the Metropolitan Police Department would be handling the investigation.
