Hammer N'Ales Brewfest takes place at Seven Feathers Casino Resort on July 22 | South County

CANYONVILLE — The fourth annual Hammer N’Ales Brewfest will take place from 3 to 10 p.m. Saturday, July 22, at Seven Feathers Casino Resort.

This event is the signature fundraiser of the year for local nonprofit Umpqua Valley Habitat for Humanity. The event marks the start for Roseburg Beer Week, set for July 22-29.

“People are welcome to come and taste craft brews and ciders from a variety of local and regional craft breweries,” said Habitat for Humanity board chairwoman Cheri Page.

The Brewfest will feature musical entertainment that opens with the Heavy Chevy Band from Eugene playing rock at 4 p.m. followed by five-time Grammy winner Robert Cray at 8 p.m. bringing his signature blend of blues, soul and rhythm n’ blues.

The event will host about 78 brews on tap for guests to taste. About 10 independent brewery booths will be available. Tables and chairs will be scattered throughout the event with concert seating provided for the music.

Food will be available for purchase in an outdoor food truck court linked to the main convention center at Seven Feathers where the event will take place. People can choose from four vendors including Rolling Thunder Barbecue, IdleYld Lodge, Wrappin’ and Rollin’ and the Bun Stuffer.

The event is sponsored by Seven Feathers Casino Resort, with all proceeds benefiting Umpqua Valley Habitat for Humanity. Last year 700 guests attended the event and raised $45,000.

Money raised from the event have helped the local Habitat for Humanity build 12 homes in the 20 years the nonprofit has been in Douglas County.

“We provide a hand up for people who would never qualify for a conventional home loan,” Page said. The nonprofit assists families earning within 35-65 percent of the median household income for Douglas County to purchase and build their own homes.

“The more donations we get, the more it leaves in our coffers to build more homes,” Page said.

At the festival, guests will be invited to play games, compete in a Beard and ‘Stache contest or a Hawaiian Duds contest. A wine wall fundraiser will feature Umpqua Valley wines worth $12 to $100 for one price of $20. Guests can drink wine at the event, but no uncorked wine bottles can leave the area.

Tickets can be purchased through the Seven Feathers box office in advance or on the day of the event. Patrons can also purchase tickets online.

Participants must be 21 or older to attend the Brewfest. Tickets are $25 per person that include a tasting glass, four tasting tickets, $10 of free slot play and entertainment. Patrons are welcome to visit the casino during the event. Additional tasting tickets can be purchased for $1 per taste.

Entry packages for designated drivers will contain a custom 16-ounce tumbler that allows unlimited amounts of nonalcoholic beverages from any beverage kiosk in the casino.

The Hammer N’Ales Brewfest takes place 3 p.m to 10 p.m Saturday at Seven Feathers Casino Resort, 146 Chief Miwaleta Lane, Canyonville. Tickets can be purchased online at www.sevenfeathers.com or through the Seven Feathers box office at 877-772-5425.
