FORT HALL - The Shoshone-Bannock Casino Hotel held a small ceremony to raise the flag in front of the casino property on Wednesday, November 11, 2020.

Just under thirty people joined Military Veteran Employees, as they raised flags from, United States of America, State of Idaho and Shoshone-Bannock Tribes in honor of Veterans Day. The short program was designed as a way for the Shoshone-Bannock Casino Hotel Team Members to honor their coworkers who have served in the Armed Forces.

"Last year we were able to raise the flags for the first time since opening our newest Casino Floor, so it was a unique event," stated Interim Chief Executive Officer, Colista Eagle. "What we realized was the event was very special to our Veteran Staff Members and we took the opportunity to recognize them in this special way going forward."

Although safety measures, masks and physically distancing, made the event look differently, the feelings were the same. The early morning event was graced with a break in the winter weather.

"There was some concern the program would not be appropriate in the snow flurries," said Echo Marshall, Executive Marketing Director. "It turns out, the short program was just perfect and a wonderful way to start the day."
Marshall, whose husband is a Veteran, Roland Marshall, was also in attendance, and was appreciative of the gesture to make sure all Veterans are honored and cared for.

"The Casino Hotel has held many events to make sure those who have served in the Military are recognized for their service. It was a nice thing to do this morning."

A short program started with Interim CEO Colista Eagle, welcoming Team Members and guests to the event. Shoshone-Bannock Tribal Council Chairman, Devon Boyer, then offered words of thanks to all Military and Honored Veterans. Council Member, Lee Juan Tyler, led the crowd in a prayer as guests faced due East to recognize the sunrise and the many blessings upon our Military who serve with Honor. At 8:00 am, the flags were raised to the song "To the Colors." After its completion, coffee and cinnamon rolls were served.

The Shoshone-Bannock Casino Hotel appreciates all those who came to experience this event and would like to recognize: Chairman Devon Boyer; Council Member Lee Juan Tyler; Council Member Donna Thompson; Council Member Elma Thompson; Council Member Marlene Skunkcap; the Osborne Family, who host an Annual Veterans Breakfast for Tribal Members and their families; and other Veteran Guests in attendance for offering support of this event.

Shoshone-Bannock Casino Hotel is home to an 85 thousand square foot gaming operation, 156 hotel rooms, the largest ballroom in the region at15 thousand square feet, full service Cedar Spa, six food and beverage outlets and High Stakes Bingo Hall.

The Shoshone-Bannock Tribes owns and operates three gaming properties including the Shoshone-Bannock Casino Hotel, Sage Hill Casino and Travel Center and Bannock Peak Casino and Truck Stop. The Economic Growth Plan continues to evolve for the health and benefit of the Tribal membership and the Eastern Idaho Region.
