Grand Korea Leisure sees improved casino sales in December, FY21 down 52%

Foreigner-only casino operator Grand Korea Leisure (GKL) reported a 147.7% month-on-month increase in casino sales to KRW10.14 billion (US$8.5 million) in December, buoyed by better luck than in November.

With drop just 1.0% higher than the previous month at KRW87.10 billion (US$72.8 million), GKL saw table sales grow by 258.9% to KRW8.79 billion (US$7.3 million) and machine sales by 18.3% to KRW1.34 billion (US$1.1 million).

December’s results brought FY21 casino sales to KRW89.58 billion (US$74.8 million), down 51.8% year-on-year. Table drop was down 47.2% for the year to KRW753.95 billion (US$629.9 million).

GKL operates three casinos in South Korea – Gangnam COEX and Gangbuk Millenium Seoul Hilton in Seoul, and Seven Luck Casino Busan Lotte.
