LAS VEGAS -- Wednesday night, the newest resort on the Las Vegas strip will open, and it is opening in some pretty tough times for the local economy.
The multi-million dollar Cosmopolitan opens at 8:00 p.m. It has 2,000 hotel rooms, a 100,000 square foot casino and 12 restaurants. They are working on the final touches on the hotel, but for the most part,
It is a luxury hotel, but not stuffy. They is definitely a fun, playful side to the property. One of the many standouts is the 14 restaurants inside.
The property sits on 8.7 acres of land, so it is more of a vertical property. There is definitely a lot to look at, including digitally animated columns, a huge casino and a three story chandelier made up of two million crystals.
One of the big priorities at the Cosmopolitan is live entertainment. Each bar has the capability of showcasing DJ's or live bands.
"We also have a 40 foot, $3 million DJ booth stage that the whole world will talk about after they see what we can do with it -- technology, content and experience-wise to deliver something that the town has never seen," said Jason Strauss, managing partner of Marquee Nightclub.
Seventy percent of the rooms have balconies and many of them also have kitchenettes. The view is breath-taking. There are also three separate pools on property. There are also some retail stores inside. All of the stores are brand new to the Las Vegas area and you will not find them in any other Las Vegas location.
